Let’s be honest here, New York City is commonly referred to as one of the most beautiful places on this planet, despite the fact that it is often times criticized by the media and most importantly, by the people living in it.

But, for as much as we love it, we do have to say that sometimes we just feel like we need somewhere else to go to in order to recharge our batteries.

Now, don’t get us wrong, the city is absolutely gorgeous, but the crowds do get to you every now and then, which is why you need to pack up your bags every now and then.

So, in order to help you find the perfect getaway destination we decided to offer you our own rendition of the top 25 best places to go to when you just want to escape the city life.

Whether you’re a resident of NYC or if you’re just looking for a new dream destination to sink your teeth in, you will definitely benefit from this list as it is meant to help you relax for once and of course, get that much needed adrenaline rush that so many of us crave.

Let’s just say that you’re looking for a place to celebrate some special occasion with your significant other but there are just no good places left in New York City that will fit the requirements that you’re looking for.

Well, if that’s the case then you need to check yourself into the illustrious Hotel du Pont because honestly there aren’t all that many places out there that can rival it in terms of beauty and overall romantic atmosphere.

You will find this charming retreat straight in the middle of the Hudson Valley, around 90 minutes away from New York City. That may sound like a long time to be driving for a random house but trust us, it is worth it.

If you’re looking for a scenic environment that you can really relax in and just feel like you’re one with the nature then there’s no better place out there than this one right here.

This is also a must for the fans of the Victorian architecture because it just looks like a castle from the moment you step foot outside of it.

The Maker is one of the top hotels in Hudson and by God, it truly deserves to be on this list simply because of how much it actually offers for its relative low price tag.

It will cost you around $550 per night but remember, this is NYC we’re talking about so there’s absolutely no way that you could find a better deal without also losing all of the quality that come with it.

But alas, this is another Victorian age inspired construction and hey, if you want to spend the late evening with your significant other sipping on hot cocoa there’s no place quite like the Maker.

If you have a knack for the sinister and the macabre then you absolutely need to add this getaway to your list because it is by far one of the best out there.

Even if you’re not a fan of the creepiness that comes with it, we will have to say that the hiking, art and even the views alone of the place are more than enough to get anyone excited to say the least.

But alas, the site really shines when Oktoberfest comes around since that’s when the Haunted Hayride is available to every tourist around. Don’t forget to give the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery a visit too if you really want to get the spooky Halloween vibes to the max.

Although we mentioned it only as Hunter, New York, there are actually two villages here that are worth mentioning, these being Tannersville and Hunter.

You will be able to get to them in roughly around two hours or so and once you get here you will be able to take part in a plethora of different activities, including skiing, ziplining, hiking and of course, you will also be able to cycle all around the place too.

The views you’ll get here are just insane, so if that sounds like something you’d enjoy taking part in then go on over to Hunter and Tannersville, you won’t regret it.

The city life can sometimes be a bit too much for us to handle, which is why we always recommend going on a hike to get your blood pumping and to finally breathe some fresh air for once.

If that sounds like your cup of tea then Bear Mountain should definitely be added to your lit too as this is one of the best places to visit if you want to have a picnic, ride around on the biking trails or even visit the nearby zoo to see the wild animals they have on display there.

If you’re part of the LGBT community and you want to be around other likeminded people then there’s no better place to visit then Asbury Park since this has had one of the most active gay communities in all of US’s history altogether.

This is a great place to hang out with your friends and family members and as mentioned previously, the community is very accepting and nice, so definitely check it out if that sounds like your dream destination right there.
