This Spooky Tunnel Leads to a Piece Of Heaven

New Zealand is a land full of mystery and beauty, a commonly known fact among the wanderers of this world.

But many of the precious sights are hidden, exactly how any gem stone should be. Away from the eyes of all the commoners and available only for those who’re really prepared for the enjoyment and delight.

Down in the South Island of New Zealand we can find the beautiful city of Dunedin, the biggest in the region, an establishment called home by approximately 125.000 people. After you feast your soul on what the town has to offer, ask around about where direction should you take to meet the entrance in the tunnel behind the beach. Eventually, a kind citizen will let you know which road should you follow so that after seven kilometers away from the city you’ll get to it. But pay attention, the entrance might not be so easily visible to the untrained eye. Now, all you need is a little bravery to take a first step inside.

The tunnel is 72 steps long and once you get on the other end of it, one of the most beautiful beaches in the country will rise to greet your arrival. There is some history attached to it too. It’s said that a local politician built the scary tunnel in the late 19th century for him and his family to enjoy.

We don’t know too much about what happened since, but their legacy is of the uttermost beauty. Inside, it gets darker and darker, but in the end, when you find your way through, a free for all beach surrounded by 15 meter long sandstone cliffs is the piece of Heaven you’ve been craving for so long. Get yourself in between the battling waves and create a memory you will never forget.
